“Dinner!” Sam called, his voice traveling through the halls of the bunker. Sighing, you unplugged the heating pad you had pressed to your stomach and got up from your bed, albeit painfully. You were having some pretty bad cramps today, but hopefully a good meal would make you feel better.

Walking to the main room, you saw Dean and Cas were already there, helping Sam put out plates heaping with pasta. You sat down, the room silent for a moment as everyone started eating.

“Oh, (yn), I forgot to tell you.” Dean started. “We have a job tomorrow, a vampire nest in Indiana. Be packed and ready in the morning.”

“Yup.” You answered automatically, until you remembered your… condition. “Dammit. I can’t go.”

Sam’s brow furrowed. “What? Why?”

“Uh… I…”

“(yn), you better have a good reason. It’s a big nest, so either all four of us go or none of us.” Dean said.

Cas took a sip of water. Although he didn’t eat food, he still sat with you all at dinner to be a part of the conversation. “I believe (yn) is referring to the fact that she is currently menstruating.”

“Menstrwhat?” Dean repeated, confused.

“Menstruating, or menstruation. A cycle that occurs every month in the uterus to prepare human females for pregnancy.” Cas explained, deadpan as always.

You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “Real subtle, Cas.”

“Wait, are you on your period?!” Dean asked, reeling back.

“Yes, Dean. Buckets and buckets of blood are currently flooding out of my inner organs, and if you keep giving me that look I might just make the same thing happen to you.” You threatened, not too fond of the horrified expression on the older Winchester’s face.

Sam cleared his throat, trying to dispel some of the awkwardness. “So, no vampires?”

“No, no vampires.” You confirmed.

“C’mon (yn), you really can’t fight? It can’t be that bad.” Dean protested, unaware of Sam and Cas’s frantic gestures for him to stop speaking as your eyes began to blaze with anger.

“First of all Dean, period pain can range anywhere from “Oh, I have a cramp, that’s annoying,” to “I feel like someone is carving out my insides with a butter knife,” so yes, it is that bad. And second, I can’t go near vampires because they would be able to smell me from a mile off. The pain I’m in right now as a result of my uterus literally tearing itself to shreds is somewhere around seven on a 0-10 scale, 10 of course being the butter-knife-stabbing stage, but somehow my cramps seem to be getting worse and worse every time you open your whore mouth.”

Dean wasn’t fazed by your words however, actually letting out a chuckle. “Yup, you’re definitely on your period right now. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you sound crazier.”

Everyone looked up in surprise when you stood abruptly, your chair hitting the ground behind you.

“You’ll regret those words, Dean Winchester.” You threatened before stalking out of the room, your dinner forgotten.

Dean shrugged, putting another forkful of pasta in his mouth while Sam stared at him in concern. “You are so dead, Dean.”

The next morning you were suspiciously happy in comparison to the night before, flitting around the breakfast table and serving up eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee. “Feeling better (yn)?” Sam inquired, watching you smile as you practically shoved Dean’s coffee mug into his hand. Dean failed to notice the unusual behavior, too absorbed in the newspaper.

“Not quite Sam, but I expect to very soon.” You answered cheerily, beaming as you took a seat and began to eat. You watched Dean out of the corner of your eye as he drank his coffee, your smile getting bigger and bigger with every sip.

“Good, I’m glad to hear it. Since we can’t go after the vampire nest, I was thinking we could spend some time catching up on research…” Sam remarked, only to be cut off by a groan from Dean.

His face twisting in pain, Dean put down the newspaper and his now empty coffee mug. “Oh god, I think I’m gonna barf.” He said before rushing to the kitchen sink and dry heaving.

“(yn), you cooked the eggs all the way through, right?” Sam asked, looking over at his brother in concern.

“Oh, the eggs aren’t the problem Sam, don’t worry.” You replied, scooping up a few of the aforementioned eggs and popping them into your mouth as proof. You continued to eat merrily as Dean dry heaved over the sink but never managed to actually vomit. Hit with a fresh wave of pain, Dean let out a groan and gave up on the idea of spilling his guts, sinking to the floor instead and sitting down. “Oh god, my stomach is killing me. It feels like someone’s going at my guts with a rusty knife…”

Sam’s eyes grew wide as Dean trialed off, and the younger Winchester honed in on your smirk. “(yn), what did you do?”

“Well, after our discussion last night, I took the liberty of going through some old spell books.” You explained, getting up and bringing your empty plate to the sink, where you nudged Dean aside with your foot as he let out another pained groan. “And I happened to find a spell that transfers one person’s pain to another person for a week. And I put the mix in Dean’s coffee a few minutes ago.”

Kneeling down so you were face to face with Dean, you smiled at him. “What you’re experiencing right now Dean, and what you’ll continue to experience for the next few days, are the full effects of my period. I’m still doing the bleeding, so you won’t have to worry about that, but you get all the symptoms. All of my cramps, headaches, nausea, irritability, and just general pain will be transferred to you! Doesn’t that sound fun?”

Dean answered with another groan as he flopped over, lying flat on the kitchen floor.

“Cool,” You replied with a nod. “If you boys will excuse me, I’m going to go for a jog. By the way Dean, one of the best ways to get rid of cramps is by exercising! Running releases endorphins, which will numb the pain! Do you want to come with me?”

The man on the floor let out an angry growl, curling up with his hands pressed to his stomach as if the very idea of moving pained him. You laughed, “Yeah, I thought as much. See ya later!” You said, skipping out of the room.

Sam watched you go and went to put his plate in the sink, carefully stepping over his brother on the floor. Looking at Dean with some concern, he filled a clean glass with water and delicately placed it on the floor next to the groaning man. “Um, feel better?” He said weakly, before exiting the room and leaving Dean alone.

That afternoon, Sam entered the bunker’s general living area to see that Dean had made it to one of the couches. He was curled up amidst a small pile of pillows and had wrapped a wad of blankets directly around his middle, making him look like he was sitting in a plush doughnut. Tapping away on the laptop, he grimaced when he saw his brother come in. “Sam! I need you to find out where (yn) hid all the painkillers. I tried whiskey, but that made it worse, and some chick with an online blog swears by raspberry tea, but it’s literally like drinking a pile of boiled weeds.”

“Uh…” Sam started, awkwardly scratching his head. “(yn) may have paid me not to help you?”

“What?! You would turn your back on your own brother?”

“Honestly Dean, you kinda deserve it. You were a real dick to (yn). I think this is a pretty good punishment.”

Drawn in by the amount of noise, Cas entered through one of the many doorways. “What’s going on?”

“Cas! You gotta heal me, (yn) gave me some weird spell stuff and now I have cramps instead of her.”

Castiel nodded, thinking. “That’s actually a very good idea, I’m impressed.”

“Thank go- What?! You’re not gonna help me either?”

“You were very disrespectful to (yn), Dean.” Cas frowned. “This seems fitting. Perhaps once you have come to understand the pain that comes with menstruation, you will have a greater respect for females.”

And then the only person living in the bunker who was not yet in the room, you, entered. Wearing your running gear and holding a towel, you let out a satisfied sigh. “That was great, I need to run more often. How ya doing, Dean?”

“I feel like death, thank you very much. My stomach is in knots, I feel like I have to throw up but I don’t, I have this insane craving to eat everything imaginable, my entire pelvis hurts, so sitting down is agony. It even hurts to pee! But my nipples and chest are also super sore which the weirdest part of all of this is honestly. So (yn), please, please change me back.”

Crossing your arms and raising and eyebrow, you waited for more.

Dean sighed. “I’m sorry I said those things, (yn). I shouldn’t have underestimated how much getting your period actually hurts.”

“That’s good to hear Dean, but that’s not the part I’m mad about.”

Dean blinked, speechless, while Sam and Cas looked on. “What?”

“You said I was crazy because I was on my period, Dean. That’s why I did this. Do you know how many assholes completely dismiss women’s opinions with the excuse that the girl must be on her period? Try watching any kind of political debate and you’ll see what I mean. I’m not going to let you be one of those jerks, Dean, so I decided this is how I would teach you a lesson.”

“…oh.” Dean said quietly.

“You have a couple days left of this Dean, and the cramps and soreness and stuff get easier. Come talk to me when you’ve really thought about why I did this, okay?” You said, walking out with Sam and Dean close behind you.

The next time you found yourself curled up on your bed with a heating pad, you were surprised to hear a knock on your door. Clearing your throat, you managed a breathy “Come in!”

The door opened to reveal Dean, carrying a small tray with him. He shut the door quietly and sat on your bed as gently as possible, the tray resting across his knees. “Hey, uh, I brought you some chocolate, and some chips and juice, and that book you like. Cas poofed to the store to get more Ibuprofen and Sam’s making burgers for lunch.”

“Thanks Dean,” you said with a soft smile. Shifting around awkwardly, Dean placed the tray on the floor. “(yn), do you feel like we don’t listen to you?”

Your eyes fluttered open, and you looked at Dean’s worried expression. “Is this about last month? No Dean, you guys are great. I know you take what I say seriously and care about my opinion, at least when it comes to hunting. You could be a little more sensitive when it comes to female stuff, but I think you figured that out last month. Right now, you’re perfect.”

Dean let out the breath he had been holding in, and a small smile appeared on his face. “Good. You know we all care about you, right (yn)? If you ever feel like something is wrong, please just tell me. You don’t have to give me cramps again, I promise I’ll listen.”

“Good to know Dean,” You nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

Watching you smile sleepily, a light blush came over Dean’s face, and he turned away quickly. “Uh, want me to read to you?” He asked, fumbling for the book he had put on the floor.

You giggled. “Sure Dean, that would be nice.”

Leaning back against the headboard, Dean lay down beside you, the book held on his stomach with his left hand, while he put his other arm around you and you lay your head against his shoulder. You stayed like that for a long time, lying against Dean with the heating pad keeping the cramps away, listening to him narrate your favorite story.
So I haven't written another one of these in over a year? Wow. Anyway, here's a thing. It kinda fell apart at the end. Enjoy!
